The Amsterdam Bar in association with the nonprofit music foundation, Musicology the Art (www.MusicologytheArt.org), is proud to present the first annual Expo Park Jazz Festival: Many Faces of Jazz.
Expo Park Jazz Fest: The Many Faces of Jazz will be a 2 day jazz music festival over Labor Day Weekend 2010. This inaugural event will take place at Amsterdam Bar, located at 831 Exposition Ave at Parry St., Dallas, Texas, on Sunday, September 5th and Monday, September 6th from 2 pm to 2 am.
Dallas locals Shelley Carrol, Mike Scheel and Erin Nicole Parisi are making Amsterdam Bar into a Labor Day weekend destination location. The trio decided to expand on the weekly success of Amsterdam Bar’s “Monday Jazz Night.” Amsterdam Bar is known for its exceptional jazz performances lead by the world renowned jazz saxophonist Shelley Carrol. Jazz music has brought much acclaim and notoriety to the bar. Recently, the Dallas Observer crowned Amsterdam Bar the “Best Dallas Jazz Club” in Dallas.
2010 Fest Theme is the Many Faces of Jazz. This year’s festival will highlight and pay tribute to the history and varied musical styles of jazz – the great American music tradition. Exposition Park has played a key role in Dallas’ jazz and blues music history. The Jazz Fest hopes to bring awareness to the past history and celebrate the present jazz revival in the area.
The bill will feature national and local jazz acts with several surprise guest appearances. Patrons will hear from some of the most exciting jazz artists on the scene today.
The line up (subject to change) will include the following jazz artists and many more: The Brad Leali/Shelley; Carrol Big Band; Bernard Wright Trio; Adrina Lockhart; Yells at Eels; Victor Cager; Paul Slavens; Flipside; Barrie Lee Hall Jr. and the Duke Ellington Small Band; Quoman Fowler; Tatiana Mayfield; Quartet Out; Drenda Barnett; Charlie Young Sextet (CD release "So Long Ago"); Buddy Mohmed; Dave Zollar and the Daybreak Express; and Shelley Carrol Electrik Band Featuring Ephram Owens.
