New beer on tap: Lakewood Brewing Co.'s Till & Toil Farmhouse Saison

I love beer. It changes with the seasons like produce. The stouts and porters have given way to wits and saisons. It's beautiful. Lakewood's Saison is fabulous, and we're happy to have it on tap at the Amsterdam Bar.

Beer Name: Till & Toil (Spring Seasonal) Style: Farmhouse Saison ABV: 6.4% IBU: 21

With spring comes renewal. Whether tilling a field or simply mowing the yard, hard work should be rewarded appropriately. This crisp, thirst-quenching, rustic farmhouse saison pairs perfectly with the warming weather of the season. Notes of grapefruit, pineapple and peach are derived from the unique hops used in the brew.

Four Corners "Local Buzz" on tap!

The brewers at Four Corners Brewing Co. in Dallas, Texas are Dallas natives who are enthusiastic about craft beer. They are interested in creating beers that compliment the unique food, music, art, and culture in Dallas, Texas. Their motto is "local flavor," and it is reflected in their beer.

The Amsterdam Bar now has "Local Buzz" on tap. Local Buzz is a refreshing Honey-Rye Golden Ale. Locally sourced honey provides floral notes and a sweet aroma. This sweetness is balanced against rye malt that provides a clean, spicy finish.

Great write-up on the Amsterdam Bar

The Amsterdam Bar has received a great write-up over at the Dallas Observer:
In a town that pays actual respect to the glitteriest, shiniest new thing on the block, it's easy to take the classics for granted. I generally regard my distaste for nostalgia as a positive thing, but the test of time is not easy to pass and must therefore be honored. Like a worn-in t-shirt or a faded old denim jacket, there are some nights in this town that will wait for you, welcome you back with open arms and cold drinks as if you had never left to begin with.

Dallas always looks its most beautiful on these early Spring patio days. That nip in the breeze at night makes staying out past sunset all the more enjoyable before the melting summer begins. We could cover Dallas' variant patios in a million different categories but when I imagine an evening under the fuzzy North Texas stars, I immediately reach for The Amsterdam Bar.
You can read the rest of Gloria Levario's "The Antidote to Dallas' Love Affair with Shiny New Things" at the Dallas Observer.

Two new beers now available!

Community Beer Company Inspiration Ale (Belgian Strong Ale, ABV 9.6%, IBU 45)
The deep ruby hue of this ale comes from the use of several English and Belgian crystal malts as well as a touch of roasted malt. The rich malt character is balanced by a high ABV, a blend of highly attenuative and expressive Belgian yeast strains, and just the right amount of hops. Aroma is of dark fruit, sweet malt, phenolic spiciness and a hint of noble hops. Flavor is packed with juicy malt flavors that mingle with the fruitiness of the Belgian yeast and spicy character of the noble hops, all balanced by the alcoholic strength.

Revolver Brewing Mother's Little Fracker (Stout, ABV 7.75%, IBU 60)
Dark and deep as West Texas Intermediate! This big bodied stout is conditioned in the keg. It's on the sweet side, with intense roasted character and a soft bitter finish from Summit and Challenger hops. Revolver Brewing is located thirty-five minutes southwest of Fort Worth in historic Granbury, TX.

Description

“Michael's playing keeps me interested in the performance--spellbound, at times--from the first note to the last. There's never a moment I'm not thinking "wow" on all levels. This is jazz for adults only.” - Hal Crook (Jazz trombone legend, Berklee College of Music Professor)

"...Michael Palma...musical savant...with talent and music to spare." - The Dallas Weekly

"Michael Palma is a very skilled and musically deep pianist and improvisor. His stream of consciousness in the unfolding of linear ideas is truly remarkable! His solos are always interesting to listen to as he develops ideas and makes all of the features of the harmony crystal clear! I am proud to know this young man and see a great future for him as a professional player!" – Dan Haerle (Regents Professor Emeritus in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas, Author of the Jazz Sound, the Jazz Language, and Scales for Jazz Improvisation)

“...Michael's composition of "Creepo the Thief is the standout of Melissa Aldana's entire Free Fall album." - Downbeat Magazine

“Michael Palma is an extremely talented pianist whose playing is rich with tradition as well as refreshingly new perspectives that are always swinging.” - Ralph Peterson Jr. (Jazz drumming legend, Berklee College of Music Professor)
