"Trivia Night by Geeks Who Drink"

This is the inaugural night of Geeks Who Drink, a weekly pub quiz at The Amsterdam.

The quiz consists of eight rounds of eight questions and is played in teams of up to six people. Questions are read aloud by the Quizmaster and teams write down the answers, turning them in to the quizmaster at the end of each round.

Geeks Who Drink quizzes are unique in that they include two rounds of audio questions. One is your basic "name that tune" round with a theme (like "songs about drinking"); the other features soundbites from movies, TV and current events. We also have a visual handout round with pictures of famous cartoon characters, criminals, animals, criminal animals, etc...

Team size is limited to six people. You are competing for a $50 bar tab, bragging rights and Internet fame.

Watch the Vice Presidential Debate at The Amsterdam Bar

Watch this historic debate and share a few beers with your friends at The Amsterdam Bar on October 2, 2008, as Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin meet in their single vice presidential debate. This will be a great debate watching party with good friends and great beer.

Jacket Gallery: Expo Park Art Night

There's a great little gallery in Expo Park called "Jacket Gallery." The gallery is rarely open and the best time to catch one of its shows is during the month Expo Park Art Night, which is the second Thursday evening every month. Here are a few photos I snapped during last month's show.






Jacket Gallery is located at 827 Exposition Avenue. Expo Park Art Night is every second Thursday evening from 6 - 10 PM at all the different arts venues in Exposition Park in Dallas, Texas, which means the next one is next week!

Now through April 13, new works by Gaedge Erikssen and Carter Herrington can be seen at The Jacket Gallery, 827 Exposition Ave, Dallas.

After enjoying some art, be sure to stop by The Amsterdam Bar for a drink!

Melodica News! The Amsterdam Bar will be a venue for 2008!

We received exciting news this week: The Amsterdam Bar will serve as one of the venues for this year's Melodica music festival. Some key information from the guys at We Shot JR:

Just wanted to let everyone know that passes to the Melodica Festival will be going on sale this weekend at Good Records and all Melodica venues (Sloppyworld, Fallout, etc.) $25 gets you access to every show (including the Sunday all ages show), and if you want one, I'd suggest buying it soon because as of right now, only 300 passes are available. Each venue will also allow you to pay a seperate cover for individual shows (ranging from $5-10), but the passes honestly seem like a much better deal if you're planning on seeing more than one show.

That sounds like good advice to us.

We are still in the process of getting information about the shows at The Amsterdam Bar, but we do have a tentative lineup of the bands involved:
